“Property Brothers” stars Drew and Jonathan Scott have lifted the lid on their upcoming “docu-style” HGTV special, revealing why the new project is a complete breakaway from anything they have done in the past.
While speaking to People, the twins, 47, explained that their upcoming show, “Property Brothers: Under Pressure,” which hits screens on March 29, will give fans a taste of something new—not least because of the unique cast of participants they assembled to take part in the series.
The show will see the brothers helping future homeowners make the best decisions when it comes to purchasing a property—joining them on every aspect of the buying journey, from choosing a dwelling to decorating it.
According to the siblings, the series will chart the journeys of buyers who are all dealing with a unique set of circumstances, including a couple who lost their home in the 2025 California wildfires, as well as a family hoping to create a multigenerational living experience.
“Whether it’s the first couple that lost their home in the L.A. fires or generational families that are moving in together so they can afford to get a house—everybody’s got a different story,” Jonathan told the outlet.

He added that they tried to “intentionally” cast people who were working with “lower budgets” in order to capture “more relatable stories,” rather than following only homebuyers who are seeking out multimillion-dollar mansions.
As a result of this, the show will feature a “variety” of different lessons, while also showcasing footage that wouldn’t normally have been shown in their previous projects.
“You’ll see there’s also this real docu-style, kind of behind-the-scenes…” Jonathan continued. “We don’t turn the camera off, so you get to see a lot of the stuff that normally would happen after we stopped rolling.”
Meanwhile, Drew noted that “any situation you think of in today’s housing market,” including the many “stresses” that homeowners experience, will be shown in the series, admitting that the tension reached such high levels at times that even he and his brother were drawn into the conflict.
“Every scenario you can think of, and the emotions are there. The frustrations—even Jonathan and me arguing. So you get a lot of everything,” Drew explained.
Although they confessed they are usually “emotionally detached” from buyers, they noted that this series will help them get closer, adding that they formed a particularly special bond with buyers AJ and Carin, who lost their homes to the wildfires in 2025.
Jonathan noted that working with AJ and Carin gave them a new experience, because they weren’t just helping them to renovate a home, but also served as a kind of support system for the couple as they navigated life after such a significant loss.
He added that the collaboration with the couple was particularly poignant for him because he is also helping a member of his own family—fiancée Zooey Deschanel—rebuild her parents’ property, which was also destroyed in the fires.

He revealed that they just “poured the slab” and made the property fireproof and earthquake-resistant so that Deschanel’s parents never have to “worry about being displaced again.”
Jonathan took the couple to see the work that he had done on the home thus far, explaining that he wanted them to know that others are “going through the same thing at the same time.”
Meanwhile, Drew said that he and his brother worked to try to lessen the “emotional” burden of AJ and Carin’s experience as much as possible, explaining that they wanted to “take the emotions off their plate and put it on our own” because they’re already equipped to deal with that kind of stress.
“Property Brothers: Under Pressure” will mark the latest in a long line of spinoff shows starring the two brothers, who made their on-screen debut in 2011.
In addition to the series, the siblings will star in two other franchises on HGTV this year: a brand-new series called “Chasing the West” and new episodes of “Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers,” both of which are set to debut in July.
The former of those two series will see the siblings helping families “who wish to escape hectic city life” and pursue a new lifestyle in the countryside on a ranch.
“Jonathan and Drew will help families who wish to escape hectic city life discover the incredible attributes and unique challenges of ranch living—including adapting to a slower pace, tending livestock and growing produce,” the description on HGTV notes.
During the show, the brothers will travel across the country to highlight properties in Arizona, California, and Texas.
