“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kathy Hilton is being sued by a woman who claims that she sustained permanent injuries while paying a visit to the socialite’s opulent $28 million Los Angeles mansion.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Hilton is being sued by a woman named Kimberly Heffington, who alleges in the filing that she suffered a fall during a visit to the 66-year-old’s seven-bedroom Bel-Air abode on Aug. 25, 2024.
Heffington claims that, during her time at the property, her foot got stuck between some uneven pavement, which caused her to “violently” fall to the ground.
“[She] landed violently on the ground, causing her to suffer severe and permanent injuries, including but not limited to a complex medial meniscus tear to her right knee,” the filing states.
The lawsuit states that Heffington was at Hilton’s home for an estate sale held by the socialite on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25, 2024, for which guests were required to give a $25 donation to charity to gain access.
Her description of the alleged incident appears to indicate that she was not actually inside Hilton’s home when the accident is said to have occurred.
Now, the mother of socialite Paris Hilton is being sued for negligence, with Heffington claiming that there were no warning or safety signs to indicate that additional care needed to be taken on the pavement.
Heffington is seeking reimbursement for all of her medical bills as well as an unspecified amount of damages.
According to information posted about the estate sale, Hilton did take a number of other precautions to safeguard her home, with details noting that there would be “fully armed security and surveillance on site,” while guests were warned that no purses, backpacks, or strollers would be permitted.
The sale was touted as including an array of “designer” items owned by various members of the Hilton family, as well as several pieces donated by Hilton’s famous friends.
“Designer clothing, heels, purses, patio furniture, glassware, signed photo memorabilia of the Hilton family, items worn on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,’ ‘The Simple Life’ and SO MUCH MORE,” the description read.
According to the sale’s website, the event took place “within the ballroom, lounge, terrace, and tennis court” of Hilton’s property—and was held to raise money for The Los Angeles Mission and Yogi’s House–L.A. Dog Rescue.
“As the ultimate party planner, Kathy Hilton is unmatched as a hostess. Now it’s your chance to join the fun!” the description crowed.
The news of the lawsuit comes mere months after it was reported that Hilton’s home was burglarized.
According to TMZ, on Nov. 15 there was a reported break-in that Hilton’s husband Rick was present in their dwelling for—and phoned 911 at around 11:48 p.m. local time to report that three thieves had accessed the property.
The trio is understood to have escaped before officers arrived on the scene.
A spokesperson for the couple later confirmed that nobody had been injured in the break-in, telling Today: “There was a break-in. Everyone is fine.”
Hilton costar Sutton Stracke also had her home broken into in November.
Stracke shared details of the break-in at her home, revealing that the suspects stole multiple designer items, including “all” of her “luxury handbags.”
“The individuals involved entered through a kitchen window and stole all of my luxury handbags, including pieces from Hermes, Chanel, and other designers. They also took my fine jewelry,” she revealed in a statement.
Stracke noted that she has since hired 24/7 security and upgraded her surveillance system.
The burglaries came months after Hilton’s and Stracke’s castmate, Teddi Mellencamp, also suffered from a home invasion when her Los Angeles home was targeted.
At the time, her estranged spouse, Edwin Arroyave, revealed to NBC that three people jumped their gate and set off their alarm system.
He noted that the intruders broke in through a sliding door that led into the office; however, they quickly fled the property.
